Search Suggestions Configuration
The Search Suggestions configuration section provides settings for improving the customer search experience. By enabling features like popular search terms and recently viewed products, you can make product discovery faster and more intuitive.
General Settings
Configure search suggestion functionality to enhance customer search experience and product discovery.
Configuration Options:
- Enable Search Suggestions - Control search suggestion functionality
- Yes - Enables search suggestions feature
- No - Disables search suggestions (default)
- Popular Search Terms - Configure popular search terms display
- Dependent on: Enable Search Suggestions must be set to "Yes"
- Show Recently Viewed Products in Search Suggestions - Control recently viewed products in suggestions
- Yes - Includes recently viewed products in search suggestions
- No - Excludes recently viewed products from suggestions (default)
Configuration Details
Enable Search Suggestions
The primary toggle for search suggestion functionality. When enabled, customers will see suggested search terms and products as they type in the search field.
Configuration Path: Stores > Configuration > Magebit > Search Suggestions > General
Popular Search Terms
Configure popular search terms that appear in search suggestions. This feature allows administrators to define commonly searched terms that will be displayed to customers during their search experience.
Dependencies: Requires "Enable Search Suggestions" to be set to "Yes"
Data Storage: Uses ArraySerialized backend model for storing multiple search terms
Display: Custom frontend block handles the display of popular search terms
Recently Viewed Products
Control whether recently viewed products appear in search suggestions. When enabled, customers will see products they have recently viewed as part of their search suggestions, improving personalization and product discovery.
Behavior: Recently viewed products are dynamically included in search suggestions based on customer browsing history
Store View Configuration
All search suggestion settings are configurable at the store view level, allowing flexible control across different storefronts or languages. Changes apply to:
- Website Level - Available for website-wide configuration
- Store Level - Available for individual store configuration
- Default Level - Available for default configuration
Visual Implementation
Desktop Configuration: Search suggestions appear in a dropdown format below the search field, showing popular terms and recently viewed products.
Mobile Configuration: Search suggestions are optimized for mobile devices with touch-friendly interface elements and responsive design.
